# Original Pictures

> Original Pictures is a content provenance API. One call signs an image, video or audio file with a C2PA manifest (Content Credentials). Invisible watermarking, content fingerprinting and verification are opt-in on the same API.

Original Pictures records where a file came from, as declared by whoever signed it, in the open C2PA standard, so anyone can check that record later with a C2PA validator. It does not judge whether content is "real" or "fake"; it shows the origin and integrity of what was signed. Processing runs on private servers with encryption in transit and at rest.
